Website keeps residents apprised on redistricting

Sacramento County has set up a website to keep residents informed of community workshops on redistricting as it prepares to redraw supervisorial districts.

The website, www.elections.saccounty.net/redistricting, provides dates of community workshops, maps of existing districts and will allow residents to comment on redistricting plans.

Every 10 years, after the U.S. census, the county must redraw supervisorial districts to ensure that the five districts are as equal in population as possible.

The Voter Registration and Elections Office will prepare five plans for review and comment by the public.

Workshops will be held throughout the county, and the Board of Supervisors will adopt a final plan based on input from the public in August.
