The U.S. Census Bureau last month released 2010 population data for Georgia and its counties and municipalities. Here's some of the latest information about Coweta County, which saw its population grow by 42.7 percent since the 2000 census:

Total population, up from 89,215 in 2000.

Number of white residents -- about 72.7 percent of the population. In 2000, 68,867 -- or 77.2 percent -- of residents were white.
21,744
African-American residents (17.1 percent of the population). Ten years earlier, 15,935 -- or 17.9 percent -- of residents were black.
8,493
Hispanic residents (6.7 percent of the population). In 2000, 2,797 -- or 3.1 percent -- of residents were Hispanic.

Asian-American residents (1.5 percent of the population), compared with 608 -- or 0.7 percent -- in 2000.

Other races (0.4 percent of the population), compared with 274 -- or 0.3 percent -- in 2000.
