BOISE - The U.S. Census Bureau's Christie Hunter, above, hands out personal care kits to lunch patrons at the Boise Rescue Mission's River of Life Shelter on Wednesday. The kits contain such items as toothpaste, hand sanitizer and a comb. They are a way for census workers to reach out to a segment of the population that may not have a permanent address.

"We're just trying to make sure that they know (the Census) is confidential, safe and easy," Hunter said.

Next week, field crews will return to shelters where the kits were handed out to administer the Census survey to residents.
